Felt pads are essential for all hard floors (e.g. wood, stone, tile etc.) when using the Pram Sled®.
However, for non scratch resistant floors, there is a chance you may still notice gradual wear from using the Pram Sled® over time. This is due to the ordinary effect that even small amounts of pre-existing dirt can have.
While this is consistent with any general wear & tear advice, the overall result will be much improved compared to the more severe damage done by not using any floor protection.
This is easy to see why. If left exposed, any dirt on the wheels will be rolled onto the floor then stepped on as the pram is brought into the home. Not only does this create a lot of avoidable mess, but the grit from the mud is being squashed straight into the floor. This has potential to cause significant damage even after just one trip out.
To protect your floor, the Pram Sled® is designed with a twin-layer of cushioning. This protects against damage caused by dirt on the wheels. It's also a barrier to keep the mud contained (so the floor stays much cleaner!) and it catches the rainwater too (which reduces the risk of water damage to the floor).
If you have combination of floor types (e.g. hard floor hallway and carpeted living room), putting down a long rug to span the length of the hard floor can be a great way to allow the Pram Sled® to slide all the way.
So what are you waiting for!? Add a Pram Sled® to the shopping cart and start enjoying the benefits!
If you plan to leave the Pram Sled® by the door for convenience, be aware that you (or someone else living at the home) might trip or slip on it. To reduce this risk, tell everyone living in the house that this might happen and to take care to avoid this hazard. A grip pad is included with the felt pad (for hard floors) to further reduce the slip risk. Do not leave Pram Sled® where it may block access to a fire exit. Storing the Pram Sled® safely off the floor and out of the way when not in use will help to minimise these risks.
The Pram Sled helps your baby benefit from longer sleep if they’re napping in the pram when you return home after being out for the day. The hassle-free nature of the Pram Sled for keeping the dirty wheels off the floor means you can bring the pram straight into the home in a way that causes them minimal disturbance. This lets your baby continue to rest rather than needing to be lifted out immediately at the door. So they're less likely to wake up (and therefore sleep longer).
While the Pram Sled also allows for closer monitoring in this scenario, a couple of additional things to consider when your baby is sleeping in the pram are:
• Make sure your baby is appropriately layered so they don't overheat after coming into the warm house.
• Read the pram manufacturers guidance about sleeping in the pram (which can vary between models).
If have any concerns or would like to know more about safe sleep, the Lullaby Trust (https://www.lullabytrust.org.uk/)has a wealth of information to help you make the right decisions.
The Pram Sled Jet Wing® slides on carpets. If the Felt Pad™ is attached to the underside it works for hard floors (as opposed to carpets).
But what if you have a combination of floor types? For instance a wooden hallway combined with a carpeted living room? In this situation, put down a long rug (runner) to span the hallway is a a fashionable addition to any home surrounding. This enables the Pram Sled to be used as a carpet slider (without the Felt Pad™) to move from the front door all the way into the living room.
